Boston Celtics big man Enes Kanter took time out on Sunday to wish a Happy Mother's Day to his own mother, whom he has not seen in six years.

The Celtics center posted a video on his Instagram account on Sunday detailing the love he has for his family. The Turkish native said while he worries constantly about the health and safety of his family, he feels an obligation to continue his career in the U.S. in order to provide for loved ones:

It is heartbreaking that Kanter has not been able to see his mother or immediate family in six years, though it is not surprising given the status of the Turkish government.

The Celtics big man has been extremely outspoken with respect to the regime of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was elected in 2014 and has since established a militant government which has even targeted citizens, including Kanter himself. The big man has even been hesitant to leave the U.S. because of the dangers posed by doing so.

Hopefully, it will not be another six years before Enes Kanter is reunited with his mother and the rest of his family.
