A young Neymar played behind the shadows of main man Lionel Messi from the 2013 to 2017 season in FC Barcelona. Three years later, the Brazilian forward will have a shot at an opportunity to lead his Paris Saint-Germain squad to an elusive Champions League title.

Neymar shared his journey in the tournament with his followers on Instagram:

It read: “On the ground with an injury in 2018. On the ground with an injury in 2019. On the ground being thankful in 2020.”

Two years in a row suffering an injury in crucial moments for me and for my team. Now I am fully fit, uninjured, and able to help my teammates in the best possible way. I’m incredibly happy. I’m very, very happy.

“We made history but we don’t want to stop here. We want more,” Neymar said in his post. “We are going after the trophy.”

Neymar And The Champions League Final

In PSG's first two pursuits for the crown, a bone injury in his right foot ended his season in 2018, and another foot injury in 2019 barred him from playing in the round of 16 series in which his team was eventually eliminated by Manchester United.

Neymar also already hoisted a Champions League trophy back in 2015, during his time alongside Lionel Messi at Barcelona. The victory then gave the Spanish club its fifth European Cup crown. However, that was still Messi's team to which a Ballon D' Or awarded to the Argentinian can attest to.

The Brazilian eventually desired a team of his own and landed in a foreign land in France. The French club and its Qatari owner paid a lucrative 222-million euro paycheck to sign the Brazilian star from Barcelona three years ago. Neymar will finally have a chance to show the club that he is worth all the big bucks given to him.

The 28-year old star contributed a goal in the 3-0 win over Leipzig to lift his team to the final for the first time against European powerhouse Bayern Munich.

The heavyweight clash will be slated at Benfica's Stadium of Light on Sunday.
