The Chicago Bears Week 17 matchup against the New York Giants should be a great game. Although neither of these teams will make the playoffs, this is a moment for each franchise to end the year on a high note. We take a look at this Bears-Giants game with some of our Bears Week 17 predictions in mind.

Chicago's defense has been rather mediocre this year, but have a preferable matchup on Sunday. It's been an ugly time for the Giants and it's hard to believe they suddenly turn it around. For that reason, the Bears will aim to shut down Saquon Barkley, as he's the only legitimate threat on New York's roster.

Although it's been a struggle this season, the Bears have some solid weapons on the offense. Darnell Mooney has become a reliable pass catcher and could be in for a big performance on Sunday. Additionally, David Montgomery has come alive late in the season and will provide a boost in the rushing attack for Chicago. Meanwhile, it's finally time for Justin Fields to prove he's a franchise quarterback.

With that said, here are four bold Bears Week 17 predictions for their game against the Giants.

Bears Week 17 Predictions

4. Bears' defense bottles up Saquon Barkley

This should be an intriguing matchup. The Bears haven't been great at stuffing the run, while Saquaon Barkley has struggled all year. Most of that can be blamed on his string of injuries, as Barkley is still regarded as one of the league's elite running backs when healthy. Even so, this is a moment for Chicago's defense to step up and help them earn a win on Sunday.

3. Darnell Mooney proves he's the top receiver in Chicago

Many believed Allen Robinson would be the go-to wide receiver in Chicago, but Darnell Mooney burst onto the scene instead. He has easily been the most consistent pass option for the Bears and should put on a spectacular performance against the Giants in Week 17.

New York's defense has largely been underwhelming this year. For that reason, we should see Mooney take over this game. Look for the Bears passing attack to give the Giants problems. Darnell Mooney could be in for a career day as he makes a case to be Chicago's franchise wide receiver.

2. David Montgomery goes berserk for 100+ yards and 2 touchdowns

David Montgomery seems to get lost in the mix in elite running back conversations. He's been the most consistent player on the Bears' offense (when healthy) and has been on fire the last several weeks. Look for Montgomery to take advantage of the Giant's porous defense, as they won't have any answers for him.

1. Justin Fields flashes his potential as a franchise quarterback

He's had a roller coaster of a rookie year, but Justin Fields has developed nicely in the second half of the season. The more comfortable he becomes, the better he plays. Chicago has a chance to catch a glimpse of how good Fields can be, as he should put up big numbers for the Bears on Sunday.

He can run and throw with the best of them. He's looked like one of the best rookie quarterbacks so far but could separate himself with a strong performance in the final two weeks of the regular season. Bears fans have to be excited about the future, as Chicago has plenty of exciting pieces to build around. Look for Fields to light up New York's defense and prove he's the franchise quarterback Chicago has been searching for these last couple of decades.
