The Kansas City Chiefs did not have a first-round pick in this year's NFL Draft, as they were not on the clock until late in the second round. With their first pick at No. 56 overall, the Chiefs took wide receiver Mecole Hardman, and head coach Andy Reid is thrilled to have him on board.

Reid is so excited, as a matter of fact, that he has actually compared Hardman to where Tyreek Hill was when Hill came out of college back in 2016:

“This kid is probably closer to where Tyreek was coming out as a wide receiver,” Reid said, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. “Now you've seen the growth with Tyreek and I think you will see that with this kid. He catches well. He has great secure hands and he can run like a son of a gun.”

Well, with Hill potentially sidelined this season, Hardman may have to step into that type of role sooner than he expected.

The thing with Hardman is that he was actually not all that productive on the collegiate level, as he is coming off of a junior campaign in which he hauled in 35 receptions for 543 yards and seven touchdowns. In the preceding season, he caught a modest 25 passes for 418 yards and four scores.

However, Hardman is seen as a potential field stretcher for Kansas City, and based on the 4.33-second 40-yard dash time he posted at the Scouting Combine, you can see why.

The Chiefs made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game before falling to the New England Patriots this past season.
