Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sustained an injury to his throwing hand during the first half of his team's win over the New England Patriots on Sunday, and while Mahomes acknowledged that the hand was bothering him a bit after the game, it didn't stop him from finishing the contest.

On Monday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid did not seem too concerned about Mahomes' hand, saying it's only bruised.

“Patrick [Mahomes'] hand is okay. It's bruised up pretty good but there's no break,” said Reid, according to BJ Kissel of the Chiefs' team website.

Mahomes completed 26 of his 40 passes for 283 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the victory.

It was the latest lackluster effort from Mahomes, as the reigning MVP has posted passer ratings of 72.7, 81.8 and 83.6 over the last three weeks.

Kansas City won all three of those games, but Mahomes' struggles are slightly concerning, especially considering the third-year pro dislocated his knee cap back in Week 7 and missed a couple of contests because of it.

Whether or not Mahomes is experiencing any lingering effects from the knee injury is questionable, but it's worth noting that he had a very strong performance in his first game back in Week 10, throwing for 446 yards and three touchdowns.

Since then, however, the dip in Mahomes' production has been very noticeable.

Regardless, the Chiefs improved to 9-4 with the win over the Patriots and clinched their fourth straight AFC West division title in the process.

Kansas City will take on the Denver Broncos next Sunday.
