Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has been in the NFL for quite some time, but unlike some long-time coaches who cannot adjust, Reid has kept up with the rest of the league.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick realizes this.

“He’s done a great job of that, probably as good as any coach that I’ve seen. He does a great job taking new ideas, new concepts, and utilizing them in a productive and efficient way, depending on what he’s working with, how they fit into what he’s doing, his personnel,” Belichick said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

Reid has been a head coach in the NFL since 1999 and has not missed a year ever since. He spent the first 14 years of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles before being fired following the 2012 campaign.

He was not unemployed for long, though, as the Chiefs proceeded to hire him that offseason.

“He’s very creative, he takes on new ideas, new concepts and develops them within the framework of his system to create more problems for the defense,” added Belichick. “He does a great job of that. We see it every year, and even in the course of the year, from when we played them in October, has come up with more things that create more of a problem. He’s always tough to go agains, he does a great job of game planning and does an excellent job of developing an offensive system that is very hard to defend.”

Reid led the Chiefs to a 12-4 record and the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC this season.

Kansas City will play host to New England in the AFC Championship Game this Sunday.
