The Kansas City Chiefs have a new running back in 2019. Carlos Hyde has had a solid career but put up career-worst numbers in 2018 with the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars.

For the most part of last season, the Chiefs had Kareem Hunt at running back. One of the most versatile and dangerous playmaker at the position. Due to that, Hyde has a lot to prove this year. According to Nate Taylor of The Athletic, Hyde knows that and is ready to show Kansas City they can ‘count on' him.

“I just want to be on point, and execute my plays,” Hyde said. “Show the coaches when it comes to game time, they can definitely count on me and show Pat also that he can count on me.”

It wasn't long ago that a lot of people expected Carlos Hyde to be one of the best running backs in football. He's definitely shown a lot of flash and can be one of the more exciting players with the ball in his hand. However, he hasn't lived up to that bill.

That doesn't mean Hyde hasn't been a great back who can bring a lot to a team.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs no longer have Kareem Hunt on the roster. They do have Hyde joining Damien Williams though. As of right now, Williams is set to be the starting running back. That being said, the Chiefs will likely want another “stud” back splitting carries with him.

Hyde can absolutely be that player. Not only that, but he can be a legitimate star for the team if given the right chance. He's ready to prove that now.
