Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes reiterated his shock on the Tyreek Hill trade to the Miami Dolphins this offseason. After all, the two have been good friends since forming that QB-WR partnership five years ago.

As Mahomes said before, he knew that a trade was a possibility before it happened. However, he definitely wished Hill could have stayed as they attempt another run at the Super Bowl. Now that it's done, though, the Chiefs signal-caller understands life must go on and he should instead focus on the new weapons he has now.

“For me it was we got to keep rolling. It's how it is in this league. It's as much a business as much as it is about your friendships and stuff like that. So, we know in order to have success in this league you have to continue to evolve and keep getting better. I got with these new receivers as quickly as possible and try and build that so we can have success right when we get going this year,” Mahomes said, per James Palmer of NFL Network.

For what it's worth, Tyreek Hill himself said in the wake of his trade to the Dolphins that it was “tough” to leave Kansas City. Similar to Patrick Mahomes' sentiment, he has formed a strong bond to his teammates and to the city, and so leaving all that was never easy.

Hill signed a four-year, $120 million deal with the Dolphins–$72.2 million of which is guaranteed. Sure enough, the veteran wideout admitted that it was money difficult to pass on.

The Chiefs remain strong contenders, but there is no doubt their offense is no longer as scary as it was before with Hill gone. With that said, it's up to Mahomes to stop up and elevate the rest of the team if they want another shot at the Super Bowl.
