The Kansas City Chiefs' offseason has been defined mostly by their AFC West rivals. All three of them have been making huge moves to compete with them while they have yet to make a big splash. They did, however, bolster the receiving core for Patrick Mahomes.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Chiefs signed JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year contract worth nearly $11 million. With Ben Roethlisberger retiring, Smith-Schuster heads to a team with a more promising outlook than the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last offseason, Kansas City offered Smith-Schuster more money than Pittsburgh. He decided that he wanted to stay in familiar territory. Now, though, he has made the move to KC to team up with Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.

Smith-Schuster's antics have made him a rather annoying player to follow but he should still be a very strong addition to Kansas City. He appeared in just five games last season. In 16 games the prior season, he recorded 831 receiving yards on 97 catches and a career-high nine touchdowns. As a second-fiddle WR, the 25-year-old can be a very good piece.

The Chiefs were in the running for wideout Allen Robinson, who ended up going to the Los Angeles Rams. Having Smith-Schuster as a backup option is pretty solid.

Although the signing pales in comparison to the acquisitions of Russell Wilson by the Denver Broncos, Khalil Mack and J.C. Jackson by the Los Angeles Chargers and Davante Adams and Chandler Jones by the Las Vegas Raiders, it's a respectable addition. Since the Chiefs already had the best roster, they should still be able to compete for their seventh consecutive division crown.
