Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is one of the most polarizing figures in sports. Kaepernick famously knelt during the National Anthem before games in protest of police brutality deaths around the country, angering some while inspiring others. The former San Francisco 49ers signal-caller sacrificed his career for the cause, but that hasn't stopped him from continuing to push for what he believes is right. Through his Know Your Rights Camp charity, Kaepernick announced an autopsy initiative for police-related deaths, taking a shot at the ‘prison industrial complex' in the process, via ESPN.

“We know that the prison industrial complex, which includes police and policing, strives to protect and serve its interests at all costs,” Kaepernick said. “The Autopsy Initiative is one important step toward ensuring that family members have access to accurate and forensically verifiable information about the cause of death of their loved one in their time of need.”

Former NFL quarterback Colion Kaepernick's autopsy initiative aims to offer free, secondary autopsies to anyone who suffers a police-related death. The former NFL signal-caller's Know Your Rights Camp will collaborate with board-certified forensic pathologists.

Kaepernick also took a shot at the policing strategy in the ‘prison industrial complex', which he said “strives to protect and serve its interests at all costs.”

The autopsy initiative aims to ensure that the first autopsy performed in police-related death is objective and reliable.

This is perhaps one of Colin Kaepernick's biggest initiatives yet in his push for justice in police-related deaths.
