Adam Vinatieri is one of the greatest kickers of all time. Despite being 46, he's proven he's still got the leg to be one of the best in the NFL today as well. However, there's a slight issue at the moment for the Indianapolis Colts kicker – a knee injury.

The great news is that Frank Reich says it's not a serious concern at this point. The bad news is that he felt the need to add “at this point”. This might be looking into that quote way too much, but that sounds like there's some issues with the injury that they simply aren't 100 percent certain about.

Vinatieri has made at least 85 percent of his field goals in each of the last six seasons. That includes a ridiculous 2014 season that saw him make 30-of-31 attempts (96.8%). Obviously, his leg has helped the Colts win quite a few games over the years.

With that in mind, Vinatieri is walking proof of just how important kickers are. Not only that, but think about just how valuable he is individually. I mean, that's pretty obvious when he's still finding work in the NFL at his age.

However, that also means the Colts could be put in a bad spot if this injury does become something to worry about in the future. Indianapolis was a playoff team in 2018 looking to take another step up the ladder toward Super Bowl contention in 2019. Can they do that if they don't have a reliable kicker?

Hopefully the initial reports are true and this ends up being nothing for the Colts to worry about. Adam Vinatieri is one of the all-time greats at the kicking position and the team would absolutely benefit from having him healthy.
