Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz had quite the performance to forget in the Week 18 road loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Colts simply needed a win over the Jaguars to not only clinch the season sweep over them but also to lock up a wild-card spot in the AFC. However, the Jaguars defense had other plans in mind.

The Colts offense converted a mere four third downs over the course of the contest, while the Jaguars defense notched six sacks.

As expected, Colts head coach Frank Reich is far from pleased with missing out on the playoffs after what was a regular season filled with plenty of highs and memorable moments. In the end, Reich sees that the passing attack simply did not meet expectations over the second half of the season.

“In the pass game, we just haven’t been good enough,” Reich said. “We weren't good enough the second half of the year.”

For one, Wentz did have plenty of standout performances in the campaign, which included a pair of three passing touchdown showings. However, the Colts’ production on offense spiraled down over their final two games of the regular season, as Wentz notched a mere two touchdown passes over these contests.

The focus has now turned to whether Wentz will be under center for the Colts’ regular season opener in the 2022 campaign. He is under contract for three more seasons with the team, which includes being owed a $22 million base salary for next year.

It will be noteworthy to see whether Colts general manager Chris Ballard has major changes in mind for the offseason.
