The Indianapolis Colts have met with Florida State edge rusher Brian Burns, according to Jon Ledyard of Draft Network LLC.

The Colts own the 26th overall pick in the first round of next month's NFL Draft, and Indianapolis, which is in need of help in the pass rush, could end up taking the Seminoles defensive end at that spot.

Indy totaled just 38 sacks this past season, good for 19th in the league.

Burns should be able to help with that problem, as he is coming off of a junior campaign in which he racked up 52 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

The 20-year-old immediately earned significant playing time upon arriving at Florida State, registering 23 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and a forced fumble in eight games during his freshman year.

The following season, Burns appeared in 13 contests and finished with 48 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and four passes defended.

The Colts won 10 games this past year, landing a Wild Card berth and making the playoffs in spite of a 1-5 start to the season. Indianapolis then went on to upset the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round a week later.

Indy's playoff appearances ended a streak of three straight years without making the postseason, which came on the heels of an incredible stretch where the Colts made the playoffs in 12 of 13 years, only failing to qualify in 2011 when Peyton Manning missed the entire season due to a neck injury.
