It's been a hectic couple of days for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett following the retirement of Andrew Luck. Brissett became a starting quarterback overnight, and the Colts are now suddenly all-in with him.

Brissett started most of the 2017 season for the Colts, but that situation was a lot different. Indy traded for him shortly before the start of the season, and he was gradually eased in. Here he has been thrust into the role suddenly, and everyone knows Luck isn't coming back.

Brissett met with reporters on Monday for the first time since Luck's announcement, and said he was just as surprised as everybody else. Brissett was “shocked,” he said, via Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com. Brissett described the fallout as a “roller coaster of emotions,” which is certainly understandable.

It's been a chaotic scene around the Colts' building, but they don't have much time to focus on it. The start of the regular season is right around the corner, and they're going to have to forget about the whole Luck situation if they want to have success in 2019.

Brissett said that Luck was “actually smiling when he told me” the news, and that the only thing that mattered to him was that Luck was at peace with his decision.

“The main thing is not being able to see Andrew every other day,” Brissett said.

It's touching to see how much Brissett genuinely cares for Luck, and he's handled the situation well for how unexpected everything has been.

In less than two weeks, Brissett will get a chance to shock everybody again against the Chargers.
