The Indianapolis Colts suffered a huge blow to their offensive rotation as top running back Marlon Mack will be out for the remainder of the season. He was reported to have sustained a torn Achilles injury during the team's opening game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The NFL Update Twitter page posted the developments on Mack's injury:

The South Florida product was listed as the team's RB1 heading into the season. He was an efficient contributor for the Colts in his first three seasons with the team. He eventually broke out with a total of 1,091 rushing yards on 247 attempts and 8 scored touchdowns through 14 games played last season.

The fourth-year ball-carrier started the 2020 season on the wrong foot as he only ran four times for 26 yards on Sunday before leaving the game. His absence on the offensive side of the field was felt by the team as they failed to close out a tight game and suffered an upset against the Jaguars.

With Marlon Mack being sidelined for the remainder of the season, rookie running back Jonathan Taylor is expected to carry a bigger scoring load for the Colts. The former Wisconsin Badger recorded 22 yards on 9 carries during the team's opening game.

The Colts would need everyone to step up and fill the big shoes left by Mack if they want to live up to the high expectations set on the team. They will aim to snag their first win of the season this time as they host the Minnesota Vikings on September 20.
