Parris Campbell gained an increased workload for the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, but he was forced to make an early exit due to a hand injury. On Monday, Campbell underwent hand surgery, but he won't be placed on injured reserve.

The Colts' rookie wideout was inserted into the starting lineup with T.Y. Hilton ruled out against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After corraling five receptions for a career-high 53 yards, Campbell sustained an injury to his hand that caused him to head to the locker room.

Despite undergoing surgery, Indianapolis is deciding to keep their rookie off of injured reserve. That could be a sign that Campbell could make a return to the team before the end of the season.

In Week 8, Campbell had just returned from an abdominal injury that sidelined him for nearly a month. Following Sunday's loss to the Steelers, the first-year wide receiver seemed to be upset on his injury woes this season.

“It’s just always one thing after the other. I get fully healthy and something else happens,” Campbell said, via Joel Erickson of the Indianapolis Star.

The Colts' second-round pick has totaled just 15 receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown in his rookie campaign. With Parris Campbell missing time, Indianapolis is now going to be without their top three receivers in Hilton, Devin Funchess, and Campbell.

Aside from Campbell, Jacoby Brissett also sustained an injury in Sunday's game versus the Steelers. Brissett is believed to have an MCL sprain but will undergo an MRI on Monday.

The Colts could be extremely shorthanded in Week 10 against a Miami Dolphins team that is coming off of their first win of the season.
