Carson Wentz has received a multitude of glowing reviews from his new teammates ever since he was traded to the Washington Commanders by the Indianapolis Colts in March.

Commanders players had a front-row seat to watch Wentz in action during the team’s OTAs and mandatory minicamp programs. The veteran quarterback did not get an opportunity to build early chemistry with Washington’s No. 1 wideout option in Terry McLaurin, as the versatile wide receiver held out of both amid his contract dilemma with team officials. However, he did work alongside the likes of Jahan Dotson and Curtis Samuel.

Commanders defensive end James Smith-Williams closely watched Wentz during the team’s offseason programs, and as he shared on the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” show, he was quite impressed with one attribute of the passer’s play.

“That arm, it's insane,” Smith-Williams said.

Overall, Smith-Williams has been pleased to see Wentz, who posted a 7.6 intended air yards per pass attempt mark last season, “gel” with his new teammates on the offensive side of the ball.

“Watching him at OTAs make all the throws and do it with ease—all the weapons we have on the offense, it’s really been fun to see them come together and kinda gel and mesh,” Smith-Williams said.

Wentz will next receive a chance to tag along with the wideouts on the Commanders’ depth chart at the start of the team’s training camp schedule later this month.
