There is more to the Washington Commanders' offseason than just talk about wide receiver Terry McLaurin's ongoing holdout, and head coach Ron Rivera shed some light on at least a couple of key items for his team, namely the statuses of defensive end Chase Young and tight end Logan Thomas.

Via Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post:

Ron Rivera, talking to reporters at OTAs, about the status of Chase Young (ACL) and Logan Thomas (ACL, MCL, both menisci): “We got to see where they are on the 26th when they report as to when they'll be able to play.”

There are no definite timetables for the Young and Thomas, but the Commanders are hopeful that both will be ready once Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season rolls around. Young is a defensive stud, a cornerstone of Washington's defense who won the 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. His sophomore season in the NFL was cut short by an ACL injury he sustained in Week 10 game last 2021 NFL season against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Thomas, meanwhile, is still on his way back to full recovery after rupturing his MCL, ACL, and meniscus last December. The 30-year-old tight end, who had played 16 games in each of the two seasons prior to the 2021 campaign, could be playing his last year with the Commanders in 2022, as Washington has a potential out on him in 2023.
