Corey Sandhagen and Petr Yan but on an epic back-and-forth contest at UFC 267. The bantamweight contenders had a great fight that saw the tides shift several times.

The bout started off very successfully for Corey Sandhagen as he was able to find his rhythm and win the first round. It seemed like Petr Yan was going to have trouble with the striking of the tall and lanky fighter.

Things changed in the second round, some had it scored for Corey Sandhagen but it was obvious that things were starting to turn. Petr Yan was finding his rhythm and was starting to figure out ‘The Sandman.'

Corey Sandhagen would go on to lose the rest of the rounds but he was never out of the fight. Petr Yan figured things out and the two had a fun fight that lived up to expectations.

Corey Sandhagen made sure to give Petr Yan his props after the fight. He was asked about it by Daniel Cormier in the cage.

“He’s a hell of a fighter, man,” Sandhagen said (transcription via MMAJunkie.) “You’re a great fighter. He was better tonight, man. I don’t really have much else to say. I always ask. I always want to fight the best in the world. I know that’s what’s going to make me the best martial artist I can be. I’m grateful I got to do it tonight. I’ll take from it and I’ll learn from it and next time I face him, I’ll get the win.”

He also took to Instagram to release a short statement.

“Tough sport. Hell of a fight, Yan. Learn. Get better. The ship keeps sailing. I’m gonna be champ one day.”
