San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman may be trying to sway his former teammate Earl Thomas to come play in the bay area, but Thomas may have other plans.

Thomas' name has been attached to the Cowboys for quite some time now and the safety position is one of the areas on their defense that could use a lot of help. The Seattle Seahawks' longtime safety was in a contract dispute prior to the season, but when he finally did come back to play he suffered a brutal season-ending leg injury.

Thomas was seeking a long-term deal with the team, but seeing as the team failed to do so he'll likely be walking away from Seattle now that the 2018 season is over. Although Thomas is still regarded as one of the league's best safeties, it's no secret the time he spent in Seattle is likely over and he has a long list of potential suitors.

With Thomas' continuously being connected to Dallas, it really won't come as much of a shock if he does end up with the Cowboys ahead of the 2019 season.

The 29-year-old safety is a Super Bowl champion, six-time Pro Bowler, and has been named to three first team All-Pro rosters and it's not unrealistic to assume he has plenty of gas left in the tank. Dallas should offer Thomas a contract that would sway him away from Seattle and ensure their legitimacy in the league for years to come.

Dallas needs a leader in the secondary and Thomas would undoubtedly be a fantastic complement to an already talented defense.
