Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott wants a lucrative long-term contract from the franchise after the season. In the meantime, he wants to spearhead a philosophical change in the team's game plan.

Prescott threw for 472 yards and three touchdowns in last Sunday's 38-31 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, though he also tossed interceptions at the end of first half and on a semi-desperation heave to the end zone on third-and-14 in the final minute to cinch the win for Seattle.

The Cowboys are on pace to surpass their total yardage from 2019—when they gained the most yards in football. Prescott leads the NFL in passing yards (1,188) through three games, and he's clearly a fan of the recent flow of the offense.

“We want to play fast,” Prescott said Thursday, via Pro Football Talk. “We want to play with tempo, regardless if we’re up by a few touchdowns, the game’s tied or we’re down. It just gives us more opportunities on offense, more opportunities to create big plays and score more points. I’d say the tempo is definitely purposeful.”

Or, in other words—and in the parlance of the 2020 NFL season—let Dak (continue to) cook.

On the other hand, the Dallas defense has struggled to get stops, which has limited their time of possession. If they speed their offense up too much—even successfully—it could exacerbate the issue. Plus, they do have Ezekiel Elliot, who is still seeking his first 100-plus yard performance of 2020.

The Cowboys parted ways with Jason Garrett—one of the most conservative play-callers in football—after the 2019 season and replaced him with Mike McCarthy. The team kept offensive coordinator Kellen Moore on board with the expectations that the offense would open up, particularly after the addition of first-round pick CeeDee Lamb.

Dallas (1-2) will host the Cleveland Browns (2-1) on Sunday.
