While Dak Prescott failed to reach a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys at the deadline for players under franchise tag, the 26-year-old QB seems to have no hard feelings to the team.

“I’m a Cowboy and couldn’t be happier,” Prescott told USA TODAY Sports after no agreement was reached between him and the Cowboys at the deadline. “I look forward to working along Coach McCarthy, the staff, and my teammates to be the best team we can be in pursuit to our goal of a Super Bowl.”

As the signal-caller puts it, at the end of the day, he is still a Cowboy. Now, it sure looks like he's ready to make an impact in the 2020 season and show Dallas his true value.

The two-time Pro Bowler is set to play on a franchise tag in the upcoming season that will see him earn $31.4 million.

Negotiations between the Cowboys and Prescott's camp started since last year. Moreover, according to reports, the Cowboys gave Dak's camp a “final offer” that would have paid the QB $33-35 million annually.

It was a virtual tug of war between two camps, as Dallas wanted Prescott to sign a five-year deal while the quarterback reportedly only wanted a four-year contract extension.

The former Offensive Rookie of The Year has started all of his 64 games for the Cowboys since he was drafted four years ago as the 135th overall pick. He has been in the playoffs thrice in four years but only won once. Though he had himself quite a season in 2019 with career highs both in yards and touchdowns, Dak Prescott failed to spearhead another playoff stint for the historic franchise.
