The Dallas Cowboys have a promising future ahead with a talented young core of players in place that may be able to lead the team back to greatness in the NFC. Although Dallas is coming off a disappointing season in which they failed to reach the playoffs, quarterback Dak Prescott is to be this team's leader moving forward.

After two seasons in Dallas, Prescott has plans to put his stamp on the franchise. The Mississippi State product wants to go down as the best players in the team's history at the quarterback position, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News.

“I want to be the best I can,” Prescott said from the team's annual Reliant Home Run Derby to benefit the Salvation Army. “I want to be the best quarterback that the Cowboys ever had. So when I go in each and every day, it's just about being the best player I can be. All that stuff comes when you play the game well.”

Prescott has some tough shoes to fill if he truly wants to achieve his goal of being the best Cowboys quarterback in the history of the franchise. Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman, and Tony Romo have set the bar high, but Prescott has a chance to make something happen with the talented pieces around him like running back Ezekiel Elliott and arguably one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

In 2017, Prescott followed up his impressive rookie campaign with 3,324 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. The up-and-coming quarterback also made an impact as a rusher for the second consecutive season with 357 yards and six touchdowns on 57 carries.
