The road to recovery hasn't been the easiest for Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott after almost a year after his gruesome ankle injury last season. The 28-year-old was carted off the gridiron in Week 5 against the New York Giants and was later revealed that the QB had suffered a compound fracture and dislocation on his right ankle.

Prescott knew right then and there that it was going to be a rough road to get back to 100% and he wanted to start with the very basics after a successful surgery right after the injury.

“Before walking, actually it was about wiggling my toes,” Prescott said (via Yahoo Sports). “I actually had the trainers or my girlfriend tap each toe, and I’d close my eyes and try to figure out which toe they were tapping because I couldn’t feel it,”

The two-time Pro Bowler also admitted how frustrating the whole process was but, soon after that, Prescott had more and more confidence in himself to try and be better as soon as possible.

“When I finally got that right, (then) it was about walking. Then it was about picking up marbles with your toes, picking up the cough drops; picking them up and not missing the cup (to put them in),” he added. “The moment those little steps came, I knew it was game-changing. Whatever was in front of me, I was going to knock it down,”

Prescott is coming into his sixth season with the Cowboys after signing a massive four-year extension worth $160 million this offseason. He is hoping that he can lead the franchise once again and hopefully bring them back to playoff contention.
