The Dallas Cowboys lost a close one in Week 16 to the Miami Dolphins, as Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense made a late push to kick a game-winning field goal with time running out. Cowboys superstar linebacker Micah Parsons couldn’t get to the QB on that last drive to win it for his team, and after the game, his organization sent a letter to the NFL about why he’s been struggling to get sacks this season.

“The Cowboys have sent information to the league office about Micah Parsons' struggles to draw offensive holding calls, a fact the player has highlighted with pictures on social media,” ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler reported on Thursday. “Typically a team will send play sequences it might deem questionable to the league for review, and Dallas has done that here. Teams don't always get a detailed explanation on each call from the league, though. Parsons has 1.5 sacks in his past four games and clearly believes he should have more based on his ability.”

There has been a noticeable drop-off in production from Micah Parsons later in the season after being a Defensive Player of the Year candidate early on. Before his seven-tackle performance in the Cowboys’ Week 16 loss to the Dolphins, Parsons had just nine total tackles in the four previous games.

The Cowboys need to figure out how to win on the road

Cowboys Super Bowl, Dolphins, Eagles

There are some positives to take from the Cowboys Week 16 loss to the Dolphins, including Dak Prescott’s excellent late-game drive that put his team up 20-19 with 3:33 to go. However, in the end, Dallas suffered its fifth loss of the season, all of which have come away from home.

In Week 17, the Cowboys host the Detroit Lions with a chance to get right before going on the road to end the season against the Washington Commanders. After that, the most likely outcome of the 2023 NFL season is that the Cowboys finish second in the NFC East and as the No. 5 seed in the NFC.

If that’s the case, Micah Parsons and company will go on the road to face the winner of the NFC South. That division is in rough shape this season, but Dallas going on the road to any location has to make Cowboys fans nervous at this point.
