The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of players to lock up, and two of the chief candidates are quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper. However, the Cowboys have not begun extension talks with either player, according to Clarence E. Hill of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Both Prescott and Cooper are entering the final years of their deals, but the problem for the Cowboys is that they have a lot of other things to worry about right now.

For example, Dallas just slapped a franchise tag on defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, but Lawrence is also seeking a new lucrative deal that he wants to exceed his upcoming $20 million tag in terms of annual salary.

Not only that, but the Cowboys also have to think about how much money they want to commit to Ezekiel Elliott, who was said to be looking for a new contract heading into the offseason.

All of that being said, extending Prescott should probably be the main priority.

While Prescott is not going to light up the stat sheet like Patrick Mahomes or Drew Brees, he is a fine signal-caller and a terrific leader and is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he threw for 3,885 yards, 22 touchdowns, and eight interceptions while completing 67.7 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 96.9.

Dallas won 10 games and captured the NFC East division title this past season, representing its third division crown since 2014. The Cowboys then went on to defeat the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs before falling to the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round the following week.
