The Dallas Cowboys crashed out of the first round of the NFL Playoffs after a tough loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Despite the lofty expectations set out for this Cowboys squad, the team failed to advance past the Wild Card round, much to the dismay of fans. In the aftermath of the loss, tight end Dalton Schultz took a couple of days to reflect before tweeting out an emotional message to the supporters of America's Team.

Schultz acknowledged the Cowboys' shortcomings in his message to the fanbase, indicating that he too was in pain over the Wild Card loss to the 49ers. The team well fell short of expectations, and Schultz owned up to that, rather than try to hide from it. He went on to thank the faithful fanbase for all of their support throughout the 2021 season, despite the lackluster result.

It was probably wise of Schultz to take a couple days before sharing his thoughts on the season and on the game. Giving Cowboys fans time to cool off before addressing the aggravated fanbase was a smart decision on Schultz's part, as it also gave him the chance to reflect further on what went wrong on Sunday.

This season, Schultz had a career year, hauling in 78 receptions on 104 targets for 808 yards and eight receiving touchdowns. He was arguably the Cowboys' most reliable receiving threat in the Wild Card loss, catching seven passes on eight targets, and racking up 89 receiving yards in the team's playoff defeat.
