Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was unsure whether defensive tackle David Irving and guard Zack Martin would attend — or even if they did attend, participate in — the team's three-day mandatory minicamp, which begins on Tuesday. He has his answer now, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

Cowboys DT David Irving, who stayed away from OTAs as he tried to get a handle on his off-the-field situations, is expected to participate in mandatory minicamp today, I’m told. … Guard Zack Martin should be there, too, as his contract gets finalized.

Irving missed out on OTAs as he dealt with some personal issues. Garrett previously noted that Irving isn’t in the best of shape as he has not been able to fully concentrate on football. While it’s just three days, it will nevertheless be helpful for him to get some work done this week during minicamp.

As for Martin, he also sat out OTAs as he awaited resolution on his contract situation. But he has been working out on the side and is apparently in great shape. And since it’s just a matter of time before Martin’s lucrative new deal gets done, he’s got no more reason to sit out. He’s now free to return to work with his team and concentrate fully on preparing for the new season.

After all the drama that’s gone on with the Cowboys this offseason, it should be a welcome development for them to finally have two of their most crucial players back with the team for minicamp.
