Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence is not happy with the defense's performance against the Cleveland Browns, and he let the world know it.

Speaking to the media following the Cowboys 49-38 loss, Lawrence let his defense have it.

“In my own words, I'd call it soft. We've got to hold ourselves to a higher standard. … I call this s–t soft,” Lawrence said, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

The two-time Pro Bowler may have a point. Along with the 49 points, the Cowboys defense gave up 508 total yards. The biggest issue the defense had was stopping the running game, with the Browns rushing for 307 yards. Even though the Cowboys out-gained them, America's Team was unable to score as much as the Browns.

What didn't help the offense was the Browns forcing three turnovers, two of which were fumbles. This was an example of one defense being able to have a “bend but don't break” mindset while the other defense couldn't stop the offense.

Lawrence will be sure to have some choice words for the defense during this week to try to get them working again. The Cowboys are now 1-3, but with the NFC East being the weakest division in the NFL, if the Cowboys can get back to winning and right the ship they still could make the playoffs this season. The odds-on favorite to win the division, they have not looked good thus far this season, but still have time to get things back under control. Lawrence is focused on making that happen.
