Dez Bryant’s future with the Dallas Cowboys is one of the biggest offseason narratives for the team. It was earlier reported that the Cowboys are looking to reconfigure Bryant’s contract with Dallas, putting a question mark on the wideout’s future in Arlington. That said, the Cowboys did not sign any significant names to add to their receiving corps during the first segment of the free agency period, meaning Bryant remains just as important to the team today than he was in previous seasons.

Bryant is seemingly gearing up early for the 2018 NFL season, as it has been reported by Jane Slater of the NFL Network that the 29-year-old wide receiver intends to train with wide receivers coach David Robinson.

“The other thing I though was interesting was he’s [Bryant] going to be working with the George Whitfield of wide receiver coaches starting nest month the guys name is David Robinson he works out guys like Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders. And I said what kind of stuff are you guys going to be going, and he said ‘things like the route, learning those three, four different ways at the line of scrimmage being able to shake off defenders..’ He blindfolds his guys and has them run routs and then films them.”

Dez Bryant is due to get paid $12.5 million next season and carries with him a total of $16.5 million in cap hit, a steep price to pay someone who caught just six touchdowns on 69 receptions in 2017. Bryant is likely to be kept by the Cowboys, but he could be a favorable cut in 2019 if he churned out yet another sub-par campaign. By then, he will only cost the Cowboys $4 million in dead-cap hit.
