The Dallas Cowboys will head into the 2018 NFL season with high hopes of bouncing back after a difficult 2017 campaign which resulted in a 9-7 record without a playoff berth. Although the team will be without the recently released Dez Bryant and retired tight end Jason Witten, star running back Ezekiel Elliott will be back in the fold without a suspension looming as it did for the majority of last year.

With Elliott healthy and preparing to play a full 16-game season, the third-year back is ready to prove himself with his work ethic and his leadership qualities doing the talking while helping his younger teammates take their game to the next level, via ESPN's Todd Archer.

“I just want to show them how to work,” Elliott said.

Along with the intention to lead in 2018, Elliott has set the bar high for himself regarding expectations.

“I'm excited for this year, and I have high expectations for myself,” he said.

Elliott burst on the scene during his rookie far exceeding expectations coming six yards shy of 2,000 yards from scrimmage. The Ohio State product also scored a total of 16 touchdowns and became the focal point of the offense for the Cowboys alongside fellow rookie, Dak Prescott.

The team's starting quarterback talked about his teammate and what he's seen from Elliott at recent practices during OTAs. Prescott sees the leadership from the former Buckeye, via Archer.

“He's just showing those young guys the way to practice, with the ball, how to be great with the ball in your hands and how to be great without the ball in your hands,” Prescott said. “He's one of those guys that doesn't have to say too much on the field, just the way he carries his business, the way he goes about it and the way he practices. It speaks for itself, and the young guys look up to it. I look up to it. The older guys look up to it. That's the way to practice and the way to be a pro in this league.”

With Elliott back in the fold, the Cowboys should be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC once again in 2018. America's Team will certainly miss Bryant and Witten, but they'll have arguably one of the most dynamic running backs in the game helping lead the way to get back in the playoff picture.
