One of the biggest storylines for the Dallas Cowboys this season has been the questionable status of their star running back. Ezekiel Elliott has been dealing with a lingering injury for the majority of the season. He sustained the right knee injury in Week 4.

However, according to ESPN reporter Ed Werder, Elliott is planning on playing through it. Werder tweeted the news on Wednesday afternoon. The tweet stated that Elliott announced that he does not have any bone bruising in his knee. He also said that all signs, including less pain and an MRI scan, show that he should be fully recovered in three to four weeks.

If all goes according to plan, Elliott could be 100% by the end of December. In Week 17 and Week 18, the Cowboys play the 10-2 Arizona Cardinals and division opponents in the Philadelphia Eagles. These are two crucial games for the Boys, and it would be a huge offensive boost if Elliott is fully recovered by then.

Despite suffering the injury earlier on in the season, the star running back hasn't missed a game this season. There have been times where his injury status was questionable. There have also been times when he was utilized less as a precaution, but Elliott has been an active part of each game. In twelve games, he has 995 total offensive yards and nine touchdowns.

It will be telling to see how Elliott performs in Week 14 against the Washington Football Team in an important divisional matchup.
