The Dallas Cowboys are currently in some unique company with the 2020 regular season quickly winding down. A season the once heralded NFC East franchise will want to soon forget just keeps getting worse and worse for Dallas this time around.

On Monday evening, the NFL formally announced its Pro Bowl rosters for both the AFC and NFC while a total of five teams between the conferences failed to register a single invitee. In addition to the New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers, the Cowboys were unable to secure even one Pro Bowl selection in 2020-21.

Even with the Cowboys playing in the lowly NFC East division, injuries and just some all-around poor play ultimately led to Dallas' downfall in 2020-21. As it stands today, the Cowboys sit at a disappointing 5-9 on the year with the Washington Football Team leading the NFC East division with a dismal 6-8 record of its own. Because the New York Giants are also 5-9 and Philadelphia Eagles 4-9-1, Dallas is presently somehow in second place in the divisional standings.

While none of these four teams deserve to reach the postseason, there is still technically a path for the Cowboys to sneak into the postseason ahead of Washington. The Cowboys' final two games will come against the Eagles and Giants, respectively, with Washington slated to take on the Panthers and Eagles, respectively, to close out the 2020-21 regular season.

The year 2020 has been pretty crazy throughout but a postseason berth for the Cowboys, who would actually host a playoff game if Dallas ultimately wins the NFC East, would potentially take the cake.

However, with Washington owning the head-to-head tiebreaker against the Cowboys, Dallas needs two wins and two Washington losses if the NFC East comes down to those two teams in Week 17. If Washington loses twice, there might be a scenario in which Dallas could win a three-way tie with the Football Team and the Giants at 6-10, but that picture still has to sort itself out.
