Former Dallas Cowboys star Jason Witten is very familiar with the team's new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, and he is confident that the offense will take a big step with him calling the plays. Moore and Witten both stepped away from playing in 2017 with Witten going to ESPN and Moore becoming the team's quarterback coach.

Witten knows that Moore is a pretty quiet guy, but he is confident, and he thinks that confidence will help in his new position, via Clarence E. Hill Jr. of Star-Telegram.

“Kellen always had that way about him,” Witten said at the 2nd Annual Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award ceremony Tuesday night at The Star in Frisco. “He was confident. He was humble. He was quiet. Sometimes that is not always easy on the football field. But he has got a way about him. I think he is smart. He showed that he is coachable. That is what he showed as a backup essentially.”

Witten also thinks that the team has a lot of confidence in him and that will allow the offense to be more innovative this year.

“Jason Garrett wouldn’t have hired him if he didn’t think he could do the job. I think he will be innovative with what they try to do as they move forward. I see this offense taking a big step in 2019 with what they try to do and how they build this offense.”

The pressure is going to be on Moore and Dak Prescott to get the job done this year, but if everything that Witten says is true, this is going to be a very good hire for the Cowboys.
