In his brief time in the NFL, Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott has made a few questionable decisions away from the field that put himself and the franchise in tricky positions.

With there being a bit of a break from now until the start of training camp, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made it quite clear that he trusts the Pro Bowler to remain out of trouble over that time frame, according to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram.

Speaking of Ezekiel Elliott, when asked if trusted Elliott would stay out of trouble over the next five weeks before the start of training camp, Jones said he trusted Elliott as much as “he trusts himself.”

There is clearly a strong level of trust from Jones in the 22-year-old that he has his life away from the team to avoid any more issues moving forward in his career. He was already involved in a troubling situation where he was accused of domestic violence that led to the NFL to suspending him for six games in the 2017 season.

The Cowboys want to avoid any matter like that rising again as the team is counting on him to be a big piece of the puzzle in the 2018 season to help them bounce back into the playoff picture. Elliott has proven to be one of the league's most talented running backs through his first two seasons rushing for 2,614 yards and 22 touchdowns in first 26 games played in the regular season.

He has shown improvement in that aspect of his life staying out of trouble through the first few months of the offseason. Only time will tell if he can continue to remain on that path over the next few weeks. With Jones voicing his public trust in Elliott, it may give him more of an incentive to keep himself away from any troublesome activities.
