Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones supports Nike, despite the recent controversy over its Colin Kaepernick “Just Do It” ad.

Kaepernick began a movement to speak out against social injustices towards minority groups in America when he knelt during the national anthem before a preseason game in 2016. Since then, many other players across the league have joined the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback's cause by kneeling themselves. Jones openly spoke out against these protests earlier this year.

“Our policy is that you stand during the national anthem, toe on the line,” said Jones.

Jones even went as far as saying he would punish any Cowboys player that took part in the protests.

The NFL and Nike recently extended their partnership through 2028. However, this new ad campaign development is stirring the pot already. Angry Nike consumers are taking to the internet to burn and damage Nike products they own, many claiming they will boycott the brand. However, Jones recently released a statement commending the brand and its owner.

“I have tremendous respect for Nike, and Phil Knight, and everything they’ve meant to sports … Because I’m in court and being sued, this is litigation and I’m not going to be able to comment on it,” said Jones.

The higher ups at Nike have taken a strong stance for what they believe in with the release of their latest ad campaign. Other notable athletes included in this installment are Odell Beckham Jr. and Serena Williams. Regardless of what the response from the public is, Nike looks like it will remain steadfast with their viewpoints and continue to support their athletes.
