Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, if nothing else, will have the back of his players even if the words coming out of his mouth are absurd. While what he claims about Dak Prescott isn't exactly insane, it is a bit of a stretch given the play of other quarterbacks in the National Football League at the moment.

“I think he’s playing at the highest level in the NFL right now,” Jones said after the Cowboys’ victory over the Chiefs.

The highest? He's playing better than everyone?

As for what Dak Prescott thinks, he feels confident and is appreciative of his owner's support.

“I feel like I’m playing well,” Prescott said Wednesday, via Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. “I’m seeing the field, studying; I’m preparing the right way. I’m able to go out there on Sunday and just let it go and play within myself and have fun and get all these guys the ball, and it’s been working.”

“It’s definitely humbling to be in that conversation, to be with those guys, but it’s only 24 games,” Prescott said. “It’s only the beginning.”

What is amazing about Prescott, and division brethren Carson Wentz for that matter, is that he's only in the second-year of his NFL career. While he had an amazing rookie season, helped largely by one of the league's best offensive lines, it is scary to think about the idea that he's only scratching the surface as a talent.

As for the Cowboys, a franchise that could have seen a dark era hit after Tony Romo went the way of the dinosaurs, they seem set for another 10 years of competitive football thanks in large park to Dak Prescott.
