The NFL free agent market has been a little too icy for unsigned wide receiver Dez Bryant. It’s been over three months since the Dallas Cowboys cut the veteran wideout, but up to this day, Bryant remains without a team.

If Bryant needs some encouragement not to lose hope, Jerry Jones, the owner of the team that caused his unemployment, wants his former player to know that he’s confident that Bryant will hook up with a team before Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

“Dez is an NFL player,” Jones said. “There’s no doubt in my mind, and [he] can really contribute. It was best for us that we’re in the spot we’re in, but when I say us, it includes Dez. I believe that strongly.

All NFL teams are kicking off their training camps this week, but while Bryant has been discussed by the Browns, he still doesn't have a new team. The 29-year-old wide receiver’s production has been down in the past three seasons, though, that’s partly because of health issues.

After making it to the First-Team All-Pro in 2014, Bryant’s numbers dipped in 2015, as he played in only nine games and came up with career lows in receptions (31), receiving yards (401), and touchdown catches (3). He appeared in 13 games in 2016 and produced 796 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, before finally playing in an entire regular schedule in 2017 in which he put up 838 receiving yards and six touchdowns.

Dez Bryant got a multi-year offer from the Baltimore Ravens back in May, but it’s not what he was looking for. Bryant prefers a one-year deal in order for him to prove himself before looking for a more lucrative deal next year. Bryant may have to lower his standards, though, if he wants to sign a deal soon.
