The Dallas Cowboys have not been shy about expressing their high expectations for the 2020 NFL season. Unfortunately, they will have to overcome a few setbacks to begin the year due to the injuries with linebacker Sean Lee and right tackle La’el Collins.

According top ESPN's Todd Archer, Lee and Collins will miss the first three games of the season after the Cowboys placed them on injured reserve:

The Cowboys have made the expected moves: Sean Lee (pelvis) and La’el Collins (hip) moved to injured reserve with LB Justin March and CB C.J. Goodwin re-signing. WR Ventell Bryant (knee) was also placed on injured reserve and his spot will be taken by LB Joe Thomas, who was released Sunday. Lee, Collins and Bryant will miss at least the first three games of the season.

The loss of Lee and Collins to begin the year certainly deals a critical blow to Dallas' personnel on both sides of the ball. Fortunately, the timetable for their injuries means they will not have to go too long while relying on contingency plans.

Veteran Cameron Erving or Brandon Knight will be tasked with filling in at right tackle for Collins in his absence. The Cowboys also have rookie tackle Terence Steele to provide some quality depth after taking first-team snaps early in training camp.

Dallas is also slated to re-sign linebacker Justin March and cornerback C.J. Goodwin. Lee's reps could be taken over by a combination of linebacker Luke Gifford and March despite his role as a predominately special teams player.
