The Dallas Cowboys defense is going to get a shot in the arm this Sunday against the New York Giants with linebacker Sean Lee set to return after missing the last two games, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Lee did not play in Week 12 and 13 against the L.A. Chargers and the Washington Redskins, respectively, after tweaking his hamstring in in Week 11 game against the Atlanta Falcons. A hamstring injury also shelved Lee for a pair of games earlier this season.

The linebacker's return could certainly boost a sagging Dallas stop unit that has allowed an average of 392.7 total yards in the past three games. Against the Chargers, Dallas surrendered a dizzying total of 505 yards to Philip Rivers and company in a 28-6 loss. On the season, the Cowboys are just 21st in total defense with 342.6 total yards allowed per contest.

Lee, a two-time Pro Bowler, is fifth on the team in tackles with 52. That includes the eight he had in Week 1, when the Cowboys trounced the Giants at home, 19-3.

The 31-year-old linebacker has often dealt with his inability to stay healthy. Lee has yet to play 16 games in a season in his career, but has been an undeniably effective defender whenever he’s on the field.
