The Dallas Cowboys have plans for recent acquisition Tavon Austin. The former Los Angeles Ram has been used primarily as a wide receiver for his entire NFL career, but the Cowboys plan to transition him into a “web-back” role which Lance Dunbar previously filled.

Most wide receivers would probably be resistant to a position change this deep in their careers. But Austin doesn’t seem to mind what position he’s playing with the Cowboys so long as he is on the field.

“I don’t care what I’m being called as long as I’m playing,” Austin said per the Dallas Morning News. “That’s all that matters. You can call me anything you want as long as I’m playing.”

Despite showing brief flashes, Austin was unable to live up to his potential as a former top-10 pick with the Rams. He never had more than 600 yards receiving and wasn’t that impactful as a rusher, either. His best year came in 2015, when he had 907 yards from scrimmage (434 yards came on the ground) with nine total touchdowns.

Perhaps the switch in position — not to mention a more prominent role in the offense– is just the shakeup Austin needs to get himself back to that sort of level. Quarterback Dak Prescott certainly expressed his belief in Austin's potential to be a productive piece in the Cowboys’ attack.

Dallas will be hoping Austin does get his groove back, given that they will need a lot of their skill-position players to step up following the loss of Dez Bryant and Jason Witten this offseason.
