The Dallas Cowboys have been in the news lately for reports that they are planning on moving on from star wide receiver Amari Cooper. That would certainly be a franchise-changing move, though it's not the only one Dallas is considering this offseason. With the new league year set to begin next week, the Cowboys are planning a key contract move with quarterback Dak Prescott ahead of the NFL's free agency period, as reported by Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.

Gehlken reports that the Cowboys are planning on restructuring Dak Prescott's contract. The move would free up a fair amount of cap room for Dallas ahead of the free agency period.

The Cowboys have reportedly been considering the contract move since Prescott signed the four-year, $160 million deal back in 2021. It's a key offseason move for Dallas, as they would potentially have an extra $15.7 million to spend in free agency.

There's an argument to be made that Prescott was overpaid to begin with, so a restructure would certainly be seen as a wise move, not only from a value standpoint, but also from a team building one.

The Cowboys endured yet another disappointing end to a season and are now planning big changes to try to take this roster to the next level this offseason.
