Cristiano Ronaldo isn't a frontrunner to win the 2021 Ballon d'Or, but his agent Jorge Mendes certainly believes he should be. The Man United star is among several candidates who could win the prestigious award, with the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Lionel Messi, and Jorginho competing for the ultimate prize. But as far as Mendez is concerned, it's Ronaldo's for the taking. Via France Football:

“The figures and statistics linked to the name of Cristiano Ronaldo speak for him and should be enough in my opinion for him to win another Ballon d'Or. The absolutely remarkable total of 115 goals for the Portuguese national team makes him the record holder in the history of men's international football. This year he broke this 15-year-old record, to which he can add that to being the top scorer in the history of professional football.

“All these achievements, which represent the greatest performance in football history, should be decisive in the awarding of the trophy, as he continues to demonstrate that he is, without a doubt, the best football player in the world of all time.”

Cristiano Ronaldo only captured one trophy last term with Juve in the Coppa Italia. However, he did top the Serie A with 29 goals to his name and also led Euro 2020 in scoring, despite Portugal crashing out in the Round of 16 to Belgium. As of right now, Messi is the odds-on favorite to win the Ballon d'Or, followed by Lewandowski and Jorginho. Surprisingly, Ronaldo is a long shot at 14/1 odds.

Whether he wins the award for the sixth time or not, Cristiano Ronaldo's consistency at 36-years-old is extremely impressive. He's arrived back at Old Trafford and hit the ground running, already netting five goals in six appearances for the Red Devils. For country, the legend just bagged the 10th hat-trick of his international career this past week. Ultimately though, Mendes wants to see Ronaldo be rewarded for his brilliance.
