Fans of the NBA back in the day, when players seemingly hated their rivals more, might not be too thrilled with recent developments surrounding Team USA.

The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers make up one of the most heated rivalries in the league today. But their stars are getting along just fine in Rio.

In a recent interview, DeAndre Jordan expressed his surprise that he has become such close friends with the likes of Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and even Kevin Durant.

From the Wall Street Journal's Jason Gay:

“I wouldn’t ever think I would be friends with certain guys four months ago,” Jordan said, laughing. He’d recently hosted a team dinner at his home in Houston. “Before, there was no way I’d invite certain guys to my house.”

Jordan was spotted last night with Durant at the swimming competitions. The two seemed to be having the times of their lives rooting on Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky.

Players who are normally competing against each other grow close on Team USA. The Miami Heat super team formed partly in thanks to the friendships LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh forged during the 2008 Olympics.

In a way, fans probably appreciate seeing the NBA's biggest stars bond together all in the name of representing the United States. But there's no denying it can also feel a little weird.

Maybe Jordan will be the next star to join the Warriors super team sometime down the road.
