The San Antonio Spurs have informed wing DeMar DeRozan that he will not be moved, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

With the 3 p.m. ET trade deadline having already passed, DeRozan is safe in San Antonio after brief trade explorations. For now.

In 50 games this season, DeRozan is averaging 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists and one steal over 34.3 minutes per game while shooting 53.7 percent from the floor, 27.6 percent from 3-point range and 84.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The Spurs initially acquired the 30-year-old in the Kawhi Leonard trade with the Toronto Raptors during the summer of 2018.

During his first season in San Antonio, DeRozan appeared in 77 contests, registering 21.1 points, 6.2 assists, 6.0 boards and 1.1 steals across 34.9 minutes a night while making 48.1 percent of his field goal attempts, 15.6 percent of his long-distance tries and 83 percent of his foul shots.

DeRozan, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Southern California, was originally selected by the Raptors with the ninth overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft.

He spent the first nine seasons of his career in Toronto, making four All-Star appearances and logging over 20 points per game in each of his last five years with the club. He topped out at 27.3 points per game in 2016-17.

Of course, for as great of a scorer as DeRozan can be, his lack of a perimeter jumper and his defensive deficiencies have prevented him from ever reaching a truly elite level.

DeMar DeRozan has a $27.7 million player option for the 2020-21 campaign. If he decides to opt in, there seems to be a good chance that the Spurs will make him available in trade talks this summer. San Antonio is in danger of missing the playoffs this season, so a shake-up could be in store.
