The Detroit Lions came up short once again against the Minnesota Vikings and are now in the midst of a three-game losing streak heading into Week 8. Fortunately, a favorable matchup with the New York Giants could be just what they need to get back in the win column.

The Lions offense fared well against the formidable Vikings defense with wide receiver Marvin Jones enjoying a career day by hauling in four touchdown passes. Unfortunately, they were dealt a significant blow after running back Kerryon Johnson suffered a knee injury that has now left him on injured reserve.

Johnson's absence undoubtedly leaves a notable void in the backfield. Regardless, Detroit will need to find a way to pick up the slack without their workhorse running back starting with New York.

Here are three bold predictions for the Lions' offense against the Giants.

1. Ty Johnson, J.D. McKissic combine for 100 yards rushing

Although Detroit continues to struggle with establishing any kind of run game, quarterback Matthew Stafford clearly has no issues with taking a pass-heavy approach on offense. Unfortunately, their efforts have been countered by an abysmal showing on defense in the 2019 NFL season.

As a result, they will need to find a way to get on the board while taking as much time off the clock as possible. This could mean plenty of opportunities for running backs Ty Johnson And J.D. McKissic with Johnson sidelined for the rest of the regular season.

This week's matchup against Giants defense giving up the seventh-most rushing yards per game (131.4) could be a perfect opportunity for head coach Matt Patricia to try and get the ground game going.

2. Matthew Stafford commits zero turnovers

With Detroit looking to control the clock at home, Stafford could very well take on the role of game-manager rather than a gunslinger. In order to do so, he will need to ensure that they refrain from giving the ball away at any point in the game.

While the veteran is more than capable of leading the offense with his arm, it only increases the chances of a turnover via interception or sack-fumble. This is not to say that Stafford still will avoid throwing more than 40 times against New York because he likely will.

Regardless, look for him to take on a more efficient approach with the offense in Week 8.

3. Danny Amendola emerges as touchdown maven

Jones exploded for four touchdowns against the Giants following a slow start to the 2019 campaign. Now it could be wide receiver Danny Amendola's turn to get some red-zone targets from Stafford.

Jones had just one touchdown before his breakout performance in Week 7. Meanwhile, Amendola was unable to add onto his lone touchdown total this season despite hauling in eight receptions for 105 yards last week.

This could very well be the week that he ends the dry spell now that the focus is likely going to be on Jones in the red zone.
