The Detroit Lions hope to achieve their first win of the season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. It is a divisional matchup between two teams in the NFC North, so anything can happen. It's time to continue our NFL predictions series with a Lions Week 5 prediction.

Detroit has suffered numerous injuries on the defensive side of the ball, but they've been decent so far. The Lions have been within scoring reach in three of their four games, so it's not like they're getting blown out of the water. This defense will have to perform their best though, as the Vikings have a plethora of weapons at their disposal.

For the Lions to improve offensively, someone in the receiving room has to step up. Now is the time for rookie Amon-Ra St. Brown to prove himself as a valuable asset to his team. Additionally, TJ Hockenson should be in for a big game and D'Andre Swift hopes to bounce back. With that said, here are four bold Lions Week 5 predictions versus the Vikings.

Lions Week 5 Predictions

4. Lions defense contains Dalvin Cook to just 55 rushing yards

Dalvin Cook is a superstar running back and the Lions need to prioritize slowing down the Vikings run game. Minnesota is a run-first offense, so shutting it down would increase the chances of Detroit pulling off an upset. We'll see how it plays out, as Cook is coming back from an ankle injury that could prevent him from playing his best.

3. Amon-Ra St. Brown records the first touchdown of his career

The rookie receiver has struggled out of the gate but seemed to flash his potential in Week 4. He had a career-high eight targets, which resulted in six receptions for 70 yards. There isn't much on the Lions' offense to get excited about, so if St. Brown can elevate his game, then Detroit could open up their offensive playbook a tad.

He's the perfect type of receiver that Jared Goff enjoys throwing to. Amon-Ra St. Brown has lined up outside as well as in the slot. His versatility can become a major weapon for the Lions. Due to the Vikings' weak secondary, we could see St. Brown play his best game yet and reel in the first touchdown of his career.

2. TJ Hockenson makes a case as a top 3 tight end in the league

TJ Hockenson is incredibly talented. He has the tools necessary to eventually become a top-three tight end in the NFL. Although, Hockenson needs some help from the wide receivers to alleviate pressure from opposing defenses. Either way, TJ Hockenson will play a key role on Sunday as he'll try to lead his team to a win over the Vikings.

1. D'Andre Swift bounces back for a monster 150 yard, 2 touchdown game

Dan Campbell told the media to “expect to see a lot more of Swift,” then did the exact opposite. D'Andre Swift only received eight carries and didn't provide much production at all. Even so, there is no denying his talent and the Lions will figure out a way to get the ball to their young running back.

It's gonna be tough for Swift on Sunday, as the Lions seem to be without Frank Ragnow and Penei Sewell. They are two key pieces on the offensive line, which doesn't bode well for the Lions. Regardless, the coaching staff must find ways to get the ball in Swift's hands, as he's easily one of the best players on the team.
