Christmas came early for the Dallas Mavericks in the form of Dirk Nowitzki, who returned from a 14-game absence due to a strained achilles in a 90-88 win over the L.A. Clippers.

The 18-year veteran was fantastic during his 15 minutes on the floor, making 7-of-12 field goals and 2-of-3 from deep on his way to 17 points.

Check him out:

Harrison Barnes took the baton and ran with it, finishing off the Clippers with a 24-point effort and likely the team's biggest win of an otherwise injury-plagued season.

If Nowitzki can get back to health before the new year tips off, the Mavericks might just be able to rescue their season and climb out of the depths of the Western Conference.
