With the Miami Dolphins trading away Kenyan Drake and with Mark Walton sidelined with an injury, Kalen Ballage has taken center stage as the Dolphins' featured running back, but based on the way he has played this season, that might not be a good thing.

To be fair, Ballage has not gotten much playing time, but with the opportunities he has had, he has struggled, carrying the ball 35 times for 70 yards and a couple of touchdowns. That's just two yards per carry.

Still, in spite of his lack of production, Ballage doesn't think he has anything to prove to anyone:

“I don’t have nothing to prove,” Ballage said Wednesday, according to Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post.

As for how Ballage has performed? He believes he has done as well as he possibly could thus far:

“I’ve played all right,” Ballage said. “The opportunity’s been slim, so you can only do so much with that. But moving forward, it’s about getting in there, getting in rhythm and being able to touch the ball more, so I’m excited about that.”

Ballage, who played his collegiate football at Arizona State, was originally selected by Miami in the fourth round (131st pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He played in 12 games during his rookie campaign, carrying the ball 36 times for 191 yards and a score.

In Ballage's defense, the Dolphins' offense as a whole has been an unmitigated disaster, so he is far from the only problem, but if he wants to become a long-term piece in South Beach, he should probably pick up his production now that he has the chance.
