The Philadelphia Eagles were able to secure all the positive playoff scenarios with a win against the Oakland Raiders on Christmas. During this process, Chris Long, who has emerged as everyone's new favorite everything, had himself a bit of a brain fart.

Anyway, Long took to the mean streets of social media to explain what happened.
“I sincerely apologize to the city of Philadelphia for running away from a live ball,” he wrote. “I was a bit confused as to there being a live ball. Obviously. Glad we could get off the field!!! Thanks for bringing it fans!!! Ugly win over a pretty loss!!!”
He then added: “Evidently I had too much Mountain Dew.”
Had the Eagles lost, this would likely become a national talking-point. With the win, however, the discussion will be about whether Nick Foles is good enough to help Philly go deep in the playoffs.
Nevertheless, Long remains one of the sport's few brutally honest and engaging personalities. Hopefully this little mishap doesn't prevent him from doing and saying future awesome things.
Also, poor Mountain Dew. That soda is just out here trying to get people all jazzed up on caffeine, and Chris Long is using it as a scapegoat. Then again, Mr. Pibb > Mountain Dew, so no big deal.
